Description
Jonathan, or JJ, is a lean 5'6". Dark brown, shaggy hair, and green eyes, as well as a ready smile and glazed over look, give him a "surfer boy" appearance to those who do not know him. Generally, he wears blue jeans and a t-shirt. Whenever possible, he is barefoot. The smell of coffee and pot usually cling to him.
Background
JJ was adopted into a right-wing household when he was in his early teens. He never knew his biological parents, nor what happened to them; his earliest memories are of the orphanage. He never accepted the dogma, nor did he accept the narrow world view his adopted parents tried to foster in him. His adopted brother was clearly their son and he was a side project. The night before he went off to college, he awakened on the rooftop of his childhood home. He and his adopted father had a particularly heavy argument after the man slipped a Bible into JJ's luggage. The result of the fight, as so many fights before that moment, was for Jonathan to retreat to the rooftop and play his saxophone, (his primary instrument). His anger and his frustration was poured into the music, and he awakened while improvising a piece of music that put tears into the eyes of all the neighbors that heard it. College afforded JJ the freedom he had always sought, and this was also where he met Dr. Loraine Binkley - "Bink". His first mentor was also met here, one Patrick Cook of the Cult of Ecstasy. Jonathan attained a Masters in Music Theory and Composition before striking out in the world. His invitation to play at The Jazz Funeral in New Orleans, LA, from Cassandra "Cassy" *LAST NAME?*, lead him to his place in the House of the Rising Sun. Currently, Jonathan holds the position of the Passion of Joy within the Cult of Ecstasy. The Passions are a fairly recent addition to the loose hierarchy of the Cult, based on the Nine Sacred Passions that the Cult holds as sacred. These keepers of the Passions answer directly to the Seat of Time, Master of Balador, Marianna of Balador.
