Wayne Censi is a prominent member of the Chantry of War and Wisdom in Chicago. He is a longstanding member of the Akashic Brotherhood and is half satyr, due to his biological father's genes having manifested in him after a paradox event. This is the Fae blooded version of Wayne Censi. For the original New Orleans version, see Wayne Censi.

Description

Due to a paradox event, Wayne is no longer a normal looking human, instead spending most of his time as a satyr/human hybrid. As a result, he can appear in different ways, depending on where and when he is seen.

In his full human form, Wayne Censi stands at 5'8" with sandy blond hair reaching just past his shoulders that naturally sweeps backwards over his scalp. He has green eyes and tanned skin that bears a weathered and lightly scarred appearance from his various scrapes and battles with supernatural beings. In addition, his skin is heavily tattooed with dragons that form the 9 Dragons talisman, allowing him to perform many low level rotes with no effort of his own. He sports a full mustache and goatee while keeping his sideburns clipped to only his earlobes.

In his more common Satyr/Human hybrid form, he sports the same hair, skin and tattoos, but he has small horn nubs at his hairline, fuller body hair on his forearms and full on satyr legs complimented by a short tail. He keeps himself disguised as human by wearing exceptionally baggy pants and a toque, giving him a very skateresque look.

While in the spirit realms or the Fae lands, Wayne takes on the appearance of a full blown satyr, with horns reaching 6 inches as well as his tattoos looking alive across his skin. This can be disconcerting to those not expecting it.

Wayne's clothing is always loose fitting, and often takes a slight oriental bent to it, due to his immersion in much of the Akashic lifestyle. When geared for battle and not worried about who sees what, he'll forgo his skater disguise and fight as a full satyr, sometimes sporting the top half of an oriental gui.

Background

Early Years

Wayne Censi (Born April 3, 1978) was born in Denver, Colorado to Robert Allen Censi and Miranda Kristin Censi (Maiden Name: Reynolds). He has only one younger sister, Karen Nicole Censi. Wayne grew up both energetic and reclusive, having only a sparse few friends and his sister as company through his childhood. He was involved in Martial Arts from an early age, lending to an unusually strong fascination with Chinese culture.

All things considered, Wayne experienced a rather mundane childhood. Things in Denver never really changed from the norm, and though he grew up keeping to himself, he grew up healthy and developed a sense of needing to protect others, possibly due to having a younger sister. Wayne started working low paying jobs such as fast food and video store clerk shortly after his 16th birthday. He moved out into his own small apartment after turning 18, and shortly after his 21st birthday, his life would change forever.

Awakening

Wayne's Awakening started slowly in the day, but ramped up as it progressed. Mind Magick leaked out and transmitted his thoughts to others, causing him to lose his job when he thought insults at his supervisor. He took the time to blow off steam and visited a club known as the Hellfire Club. He met a young woman named Kathryn who appeared to have smoke wafting off of her body and clothing. After enjoying a decent evening of talk and dance with her, he took his leave and went for a stroll to clear the smoke and building headache he had acquired.

During the walk, Wayne was assaulted by three displacer beasts, large panthers with 6 limbs that phased in and out of visual sight. Wayne fought them off with surprising agility, and succeeded in killing all three of them and taking some teeth as a souvenir. He sustained severe lacerations to his arm and chest, which would scar permanently, and contacted Kathryn for a rescue.

Waking up in a bed with bandaged wounds, he found Kathryn tending to him while he healed. She introduced him to the world of Magick and got him pointed in the right direction for deciding a Tradition to belong to. Kathryn, it turned out, was a relatively powerful Hollow One. Wayne settled on the Akashic Brotherhood, and though his training took him in a different direction than Kathryn, the two maintained occasional contact.

The Other Side of Hades

Wayne spent another year in Denver before deciding to move to Chicago. He wanted a change of scenery, and it was closer to his parents and sister who had moved to St. Louis a couple years previous. He dreaded the cold, but through Kathryn had made some mage contacts up there that could secure him a job. He arrived and made his way to a place known as The Other Side of Hades, a nightclub with a penchant for being interesting beyond the norm.

He found the place enjoyable, and secured himself a position as one of the lead bouncers of the club. It turned out this club doubled as a chantry bearing the same name, and housed a half dozen mages on a regular basis. Led by a Euthanatos named Persephone, a cultist named Marcus, and sporting a Virtual Adept named Byte as the club DJ, it was an interesting locale. Due to the popularity of the club, supernatural creatures of all types were often found attending the club, and this led to many interesting problems.

One of the first major issues involved dealing with an awakened drug that was causing people to lash out in violent rages. The people affected didn't regard pain as they should, and fought as if they were on PCP, making it difficult to restrain them or move them out of the club before things got out of hand. Wayne and the other members of his cabal, the Hades Knights, worked tirelessly to locate and then remove the drug from the streets. This wouldn't happen before a potential mage took the drug. The young man entered the club on the annual night of Byte's sensational "special effects" performance which included massive amounts of magick that was rendered coincidental due to the throng of people watching. While Byte was floating overhead, the young man Awoke, then screamed as his Avatar exploded, sending shards of pure prime throughout the club. Byte was seriously injured in the process, and the Hades Knights were shaken at the danger this drug truly represented. They were able to clear the drug and its makers from the streets, and Byte survived the incident after immense amount of help from Persephone.

The Other Side of Hades also had to help fend off vampire attacks, rampant werewolves, and even a zombie attack, all while desperately trying to protect the sleepers.

The Demon Coins

Life has a way of throwing curves at a person, and Wayne found a way of catching most of them square in the head. Tony Morgan, a member of the chantry, advised the chantry that he'd gotten wind from Father Forthill of an influx of nephandic talismans being imported via a Disturbed concert. The talismans, known as demon coins or the Denarians, were due to be distributed to the crowd, corrupting whoever touched them.

Realizing this wasn't an option, the chantry set out to the concert to catch the coins and safely have them locked away. They had been advised not to let the coins physically touch themselves lest they become corrupted by the spirits within. Each member of the chantry took precautions to not touch the coins as they were flung into the air, but Wayne bobbled his, and it landed square in his naked palm. A fake coin dropped to the ground while the true talisman absorbed into his body almost instantly. Wayne was unaware that the coin had absorbed into his hand, due to the spirit within suppressing that knowledge.

As days moved on, Wayne slowly started coming up with knowledge that he had never previously shown, being able to identify Vampire clans, and even speak languages the chantry wasn't aware he knew. He brushed this off to the Unconscious Knowledge of all sleepers that he'd been able to tap in the past. He found himself relying on this knowledge more and more, not truly understanding it's source.

Eventually during a dream, Wayne met the source. Lasciel, the fallen angel within the coin he'd absorbed, came to him and talked to him of things. He realized what had happened, but had come to realize a mutual benefit between him and the spirit. Calling her Lacy, he continued on, not letting his cabal mates know of what happened.

Eventually he realized the problem with this decision, and moved to have the Celestial Chorus chantry remove the spirit from him. Michael Carpenter, a Knight of the Cross was wary of the spirit-possessed Wayne and threatened to execute him should he not be able to relinquish the coin. The Choristers attempted to exorcise the spirit from Wayne, and for all intents and purposes succeeded.

Time moved on, and after battles with Nicodemus, the possessor of one of another one of the Denarians and the leader of that group of spirit-possessed people, Wayne found that he was still possessed by Lacy, that the exorcism had failed to remove the spirit from him. Fearing a lethal reprisal from the chantry, he hid that the coin was still present, and tried to simply wall it off to keep from drawing on her knowledge.

The battles had another adverse effect in that Sorri St. Michaels had a coin pushed into her after being captured. This one, known as Maximillion, tried to work and reason with her to gain power. She came to Wayne regarding the situation, and together they worked to keep things quiet about the coins they were carrying.

While Wayne was asleep, Lacy took control of his body and moved about in varied locations. Wayne and Sorri found out, as did their cabal. Their cabal, fearing they were corrupted and possessed, approached them as they were in a coffee shop attempting to sort things out. John Caine, the trigger-happy Euthanatos in the cabal, drew his pistol and held the pair at gunpoint to make sure they couldn't cause problems. There was a brief struggle, and Wayne and Sorri got away. They sped away from town and made their way into the wilderness outside Chicago.

Knowing the cabal would come searching for them, Wayne devised a new form of warding that kept everyone from being able to see, sense or find them while they were within it. Without realizing it, they had decided to hide out in the local werewolf controlled area of the woods, and the local Caern Warder came visiting to insure that no harm would come from them to his caern. As Wayne and Sorri worked out a solution, the cabal managed to locate their general area, but due to Wayne's rote, couldn't actually find them. A heated argument ensued, resulting in John and Tony leaving back to Chicago while Wayne and Sorri worked things out.

In a display of ignorance and naivety, Wayne and Sorri decided to make a deal with the demons, getting them to agree to no overt methods of corruption and to not do anything that would cause the mages to break their protocols without first consulting them. The demons agreed, and granted Sorri and Wayne temporary boosts in power which allowed Wayne to mentally possess the Caern Warder and use him to tell Persephone that things were solved, having taken the pair through the Rite of Cleansing, which would have purged the demon taints. Wayne, with Sorri's help and knowledge, constructed false memories in the werewolf to allow him to be able to back them up from then on. They then resolved to conceal the fact that they were still carrying the coins from their cabal mates, even working up talisman rings that hid the coins from magical detection. To make it easier to hide things, they purchased a large home together so that they could deal with the coins away from the eyes of the cabal.

While the plan was nearly fool proof, it seems Fate had created better fools. As would seem typical, the cabal was eventually involved in a paradox event when pent up spirit paradox backlashed from Sorri to affect the whole cabal. They were drawn into a paradox realm where they lived through some of Sorri's personal issues. Wayne had already been working to protect Sorri for some reason, and helping her through this realm started the fostering of feelings between the pair.

Succeeding in beating back the paradox realm and returning to the normal reality, Wayne and Sorri awoke to find themselves in unfamiliar clothing and surroundings. With a quick check through Correspondence magick, they realized they were in Mexico. Mexico, known for being home to the more dangerous vampires and nephandi, was a source of instant fear for the pair. They went to their hotel room, a lavish penthouse suite, and started trying to figure out what had gone wrong. Hitting road blocks due to lack of information, they contacted Persephone, relaying their location. They were informed that they had been gone for the better part of three months and that all the chantry quintessence was missing.

Wayne and Sorri confronted their demons, demanding answers. Due to the paradox event taking them effectively out of their bodies, the demons had assumed full control and had stolen the quintessence and sold it to various others, including nephandi. They stated they would have pushed this past the pair, but due to their absence, they were unable to and simply acted. Feeling as if their contract had been breached, Wayne and Sorri resolved to tell their Cabal of what had occurred.

Persephone arrived first, and talked with the pair, and agreed that this needed to be revealed to the entire chantry. During their conversation, Wayne did cursory scans on himself and Sorri, and noted that she was pregnant, with apparently his child. He informed her of this through their mental link. All in all, things looked horribly grim. They told their cabal of what had happened. The trust of the cabal was understandably shattered, and things would be rocky between the four for years to come.

All said, Sorri and Wayne were responsible for the loss of 60 drams of quintessence, having sold it off at a pittance while they were demon-driven. They visited friendly chantries that they'd sold quintessence to, meeting a hermetic named Solomon Martinez. He was rather shocked to see them this time, noting that they actually possessed mage avatars this visit. On his insistence, the pair removed their rings, allowing Martinez to identify the demons within. He pointed out a book on the fallen angels that inhabited the coins, and agreed to let Sorri and Wayne use it in an attempt to find a way to break free of the coins.

Delving further into the issue of the coins, they came to realize that if their child was born while they still had the coins, he would become the receptacle for both, corrupting and cursing him from birth. Unable to accept this possibility, the pair resolved to get the coins removed at any cost. Utilizing the contacts of the Fae from another chantry mate, Nathan Sommerset, they eventually found a way to remove the coins by securing a trade from the Fae Mothers. This would come at a terrible cost, however. In trade, the Mothers asked that they give up their child to them for one mortal year. That first year was always crucial to a couple, and they were reluctant to give it up, but eventually agreed.

They were given small tokens from the mothers, which they were able to unravel to get the coins to be removed. Lacy and Max fought their removal hard, and succeeded in wounding the mages avatars before being expelled. Wayne found that afterwards, he was unable to use the Forces Sphere, and Sorri found that she could not grasp the Time sphere at all. It would seem their Avatars were permanently wounded. Thus far, they have not found a way to reverse or heal the damage.

The Caul

A series of events led the cabal to track down and eliminate a group of Nephandi that had captured one of the Swords of the Cross and were attempting to corrupt it. Their information led straight to an old warehouse. Within was a stairway descended into what they realized was a Nephandi caul with a specific symbol on the door. After a bout of arguing on how to open the sealed door, Wayne acted before others could. He sliced open his hand and placed it against the door, allowing his blood to mix with the symbol upon it, and thereby opening the door.

The caul itself was constructed of what appeared to be human flesh and bones. The cabal moved through the hellish labyrinth, seeing prisoners, enthralled mundanes and human sacrifices. Of all of them, the sacrifices bothered the cabal the most. For as someone was sacrificed, their body moved to a wall or ceiling or floor and merged with it, helping expand and solidify the structure of the caul. Their trip through the caul was successful in rescuing the sword and escaping the caul, thought not without Wayne having to give blood again to open another door within the location.

Unknown to Wayne, the donation of his blood had attuned him to the caul and provided the Nephandi tied to it direct access to Wayne's body and mind. Almost immediately after leaving, he had to fend off mental attacks as another mage attempted to possess him. Wayne was stunned that none of his mental defenses had even slown down the mage. The inability to protect himself drove him into nightmares as he relied heavily upon his cabal to even exist, let alone survive the attacks. Eventually, he was able to contact a Life Master and have the pattern of his physical body altered to remove the link the Nephandi had to him. As a consequence, he was unable to heal himself as easily as he had in the past, requiring a more concentrated effort of Life Magick just to heal his own wounds. In a lot of ways, it seemed his own body was someone else's entirely. With a lot of dedication, he managed to overcome this deficiency.

Satyr Blood

Wayne in Satyr Form

Wayne often found himself on the receiving end of paradox events. Sometimes small things such as forgetting how to speak English. And sometimes larger things such as having his gender switch for a day or two. After a run of vulgar life magick, Wayne found himself taking on the appearance of a Satyr, a half-goat fae. He found he had small nub horns, pointed ears, and the furry lower body resembling a goat. This effect wore off and his body returned to normal after a few days.

Some time later, he was hit with another backlash of paradox from his continued vulgar uses of Life Magick, and again he was placed into a satyr form, only this time, it didn't go away. Wayne noted that it seemed to bring on the benefits and problems of being an actual Fae Satyr, and started delving into things to find answers. Through his research, he discovered he had some fae blood within him, apparently hereditary, and the paradox had simply caused it to manifest. The major downside was that unlike a true Fae, he lacked the fae seeming, the cloak of magick that hid their true form from mortal eyes.

He and Sorri eventually invited his parents over for dinner, during which Wayne was given a revelation. His mother spotted the horns even under his disguise and asked him about it, seemingly unafraid, but looking somewhat pained. He told her what happened, and she told him in return that his biological father was a Satyr, and he was the product of a brief affair she'd had. She hadn't realized that it had bore a child. Wayne's world was devastated. The man he'd come to know as Dad wasn't actually his father. While he never revealed his nature to his dad, he did quest for his biological father, though he was never able to find him.

Eventually, Wayne was able to acquire a brief, twice a day seeming from the Mothers due to him being unable to hide what he was. They couldn't make him full fae, but they did grant him the ability for up to two hours a day, once before sunset, the other before sunrise, to appear completely human. This allowed Wayne to at least look normal on occasion.

The Pharaoh Comes to Town

Wayne found himself in the middle of a climatic event trying to stop a mortal from becoming a earth bound deity and a modern day pharaoh when someone had stumbled upon the Book of Gates, an ancient Egyptian artifact. The chase to find and stop this would-be Pharaoh took them all over Chicago and left a swath of weird and nigh impossible situations as the Pharaoh's power grew. The Pharaoh, though mortal holding companies was able to attract followers and start purchasing a large swath of land. It appeared the Pharaoh was working to clear a portion of Chicago housing. Wayne and his cabal began realizing the Pharaoh seemed to be clearing the way to build himself his own monument. The size of the area being cleared seemed to match the footprint of the largest of the pyramids in Egypt.

From the cabal's perspective, this was something that couldn't come to pass. They fervently tried to stop or derail his operations with no success. Things progressed to a culmination of the bulldozing of the entire area that had been purchased and the construction of a massive pyramid. Nearly a hundred people helped build the foundation, fanatically loyal to the Pharaoh who stood at the center of the pyramid as it was being built. Above it, what would become a permanent swirl in the clouds as a massive thunderstorm brewed above it. The cabal arrived, attempting to stop the construction without any success. Realizing they had to stop the Pharaoh directly, they used a spiritual gateway created by Sorri to get into the pyramid that was now building at an alarming rate.

Once inside, they were able to confront the Pharaoh and several of his minions. He had succeeded in enthralling two of the local magi, Thomas Hart and Martin Solas, as well a modern day Mummy. They fight was fierce and climatic. During the hectic battle, Sorri nearly perished, sending Wayne into a rage and causing him to go vulgar, changing himself into a panther to maul one of the mages who had attacked Sorri. The group overcame their opposition, and Wayne reverted back to his satyr form.

The aftermath of the fight found himself being talked to by Sorri and others at varied times, commenting on his impulse to leap to Sorri's side in a fit whenever she was in severe danger. He passed this off as a need to protect combined with his Satyr nature of being an emotional creature by default. The cabal accepted the answer for the time being.

Paradigm

Wayne believes, as many martial artists do, that his magicks stem from the internal energies of the body, mind and soul known as chi. He focuses his chi through various trinkets and articles he keeps on him at all times. At last record, his foci consisted of a time ring, Do movements, his martial arts sash, a displacer beast tooth, and meditation techniques.
