Description

Father Eric Simmons is a Catholic Priest in the Jesuit Order, and a member of the Celestial Chorus. He is about 5'7, about 175 pounds, with brown hair that is slowly greying. Eric's full name is Eric Paul Augustine Simmons. Eric has a full brown and grey beard. He is 38 years old, and is currently the oldest of the magi that he lives with in San Francisco.

Background

For 3 years, Eric Simmons was a priest and a member of the Risen Savior Chantry in Miami. During this time, his mentor and friend, Bishop Brian Moore, was summoned to the Vatican. While there, Bishop Moore met with Pope Benedict XVI, who informed Bishop Moore that it had been revealed to him in his prayers that his impending death was not being caused by natural means, and that the Vatican would soon fall into darkness for perhaps a very long time. At the request of the dying Pope Benedict to protect various items in the Vatican from being desecrated and being used for evil, Bishop Moore constructed a talisman from a wooden chest(hence referred to as the Vatican chest), and worked on placing various sacred and important items from the Vatican into the chest for their protection. Bishop Moore saved what he could and managed to smuggle the chest out of the Vatican weeks before the Vatican finally fell to the Nephandi.

Upon his return, Bishop Moore met with Eric, and told him about the Vatican chest. He did not say what was in the chest specifically, other than the fact that it needed to be protected from the Black Church at all costs, as well as the fact that when the time was right, that the chest would open. Bishop Moore insited that Father Simmons take an oath to protect the chest from the Nephandi at all cost, including if necessary, sacraficing his own life to protect it. Eric, realizing the serious nature of what the Chorus would be facing, gave his word as a mage. Shortly after, Bishop Moore made arrangements for Eric to train with a Euthanatos, ensuring that Eric knew how to survive, fight and to fight well to defend the chest. He also had Eric study Nephandi, to understand and know the enemy.

Shortly after Bishop Moore gave the chest to Eric, Bishop Moore dissapeared. Not long after that, the Risen Savior Chantry was attacked by a Nephandi party led by Monsignor O'Donnell. Either fortune or divine providence was looking after Eric Simmons that night, as he was not at the chantry at the time for the attack, but was rather, out giving the last rites to a member of the parish who lived nearly a half an hour away from the parish. By the time Eric Simmons returned to the chantry, the church was in flames. Eric tried reaching his cabal mates by telphone, but was unable to reach anyone, and he headed for a motel, so that he could figure out what happened.

Eric was soon introduced to other mages who had recently moved into town as well. These magi would soon constitute the majority of Salvation Cabal. Eric met with Sian Ashburn, and met other members of War and Wisdom. It was at this point where he also met Master William Dossier from the Euthanatos tradition. Master Dossier provided to Eric detailed information in regards to the Black Church.
