The fae, or faeries, are creatures borne of the stuff of dreams. As mankind became increasingly mundane and reliant on observable facts, science, and other banalities, the gates of Arcadia (the land of the Fae within The Dreaming) began to close. When its doors shut, a few Fae remained in the mortal world. In order to survive, they have physically manifested in the form of humans. The existence of Changelings (as these Fae are called) in the mortal world keep it from collapsing under the weight of its own banality. The Changelings continue their quest to once again open the doors of Arcadia and see the two realms unite again.
