Description
The Metaverse is a creation of Boris designed to take mere mortals and throw them anywhere from deep space to the umbra to post-governmental corporation-riddled worlds. Did I mention they are to kill seven people in each world? Did I mention one screwed up time Mage is the seven people?
Timeline
Beginning Universe
As the story begins, Jenny Owens was working as a cocktail waitress at the Luxor in Las Vegas, NV. Jacob arrived at the same location to interview for an executive chef position, and Bob was also there for a convention for small business owners. It was not all destiny that had drawn them there, but an oracle who had need of their services had carefully manipulated fate so that Bob and Jacob would end up sitting together at one of Jenny's tables. The oracle confronted all three with an ominous statement. They were told that their universe had about seven minutes left before it blinked out. The cause was revealed as the side effects of a powerful yet mad Time Mage who had traveled both backwards and forwards in time and altered the time-line so drastically that he effectively fractured the universe into seven different dimensions. Their task was to find and destroy the Mage in each world before time and space could no longer sustain its compromised state.
After the seven minutes were up, the three found themselves in a completely white space with seven doors around them, each marked with a different symbol. They also had matching symbols on their hands, which served as a sort of "Captain Planet" ability that would take the group back to the white doors when put together.
First Universe
The first door opened took them to an underworld full of Vampires. All three still had the same names and memories, but somehow fit seamlessly into the world nonetheless. After discovering the Time Mage was the Prince of the city and being backstabbed by the Toreador Primogen, they decided to leave the Vampire world and try in another.
Second Universe
The second door they tried brought them to Shadowrun. The Time Mage had set himself as Damien Knight, the CEO/President of Ares Macrotech. The three first started by undertaking jobs as runners in order to both familiarize themselves with the world and establish some basic finances. Luckily (or unluckily, if you ask him), Surefire was introduced to the group by being in the right place at the right time. His membership to the group was further solidified by the emergence of a matching symbol on his hand. After a few more runs, Crossfire came to join the group and received a symbol as well. With Surefire's and Crossfire's connections and knowledge of the world, the five were able to confront Knight and while they were not able to harm him, they did bilk him out of millions. It was during this conversation that Knight revealed his true identity as the Mage and his awareness of their job to destroy him in all universes.
